NOW IS THE TIME

There is a jazz tune by this title. I believe it was written by Charlie “Bird” Parker. If he did or did not write this tune does not matter. But the way he played this riff-like song or any other song ever written DOES matter. I mean this literally, because this legendary genius has removed any obstacle for what’s possible to be played on any instrument. I like this tune because the title says to me: “Oh boy, I get to play (not work) NOW.” Charlie Parker is applying no barriers, no limitation to his alto sax. Life Itself, spirit, soul and body is also endeavoring for every integral human being to live life as though every obstacle has been removed, because it has! We are free. There no limitations. There is no such thing as too much good. We are all God Beings! Enjoy your limitation free life!

Now and then: TOMORROW!

On Monday morning, early, at Renown Hospital, a great orthopedic surgeon is installing a total right knee replacement for me! Gail and I went to the pre-operation meeting yesterday to get all the instructions for the three days of preparation. Everything was very detailed, down to signing the rather unsettling documents regarding unlikely problems that could occur. Life is, indeed, “iffy”. Some twenty years ago an orthopedist told me that I could not water ski any more due to this problem and that my right knee needed replacing. Up until two years ago, I water skied anyway, and it has been lots of fun. However, things left to themselves rarely improve, as Winston Churchill noted. So, this is the now. What’s next? I prefer visions of the future rather than the history of the past. According to what I know is so, tomorrow will be as I envision it today. The lesson is clear. I see and expect renewed freedom of movement!

THE IDEAL

Every day one grows older, which most of us consider preferable in comparison to the alternative! Life is about aliveness, not deadness. A friend of mine once commented regarding a fellow we both knew, that, “He’s been dead for years, he just won’t lie down!” The implication, as I understood it, was that the man was wasting his aliveness on worry, fear, complaints, uneducated thinking, gross incoherence. I’ve been blessed for most of my 86 years with a very active, you might say a childlike imagination. During recent years, in various meditational experiences, I have practiced “getting in touch” with this imaginative faculty, thinking bigger, newer thoughts, extending possibilities, perhaps even indulging in outrageous thinking! (This is ONLY a thought, so why not?) In my opinion this is exactly what produces aliveness: the imagination, real New Thought! Ideas are how the Soul transforms Itself into THE IDEAL MADE REAL, NOW. Aliveness is amazing! Aren’t you glad you’re you?!
